The Bowers & Wilkins 801 D4 loudspeakers are constructed using the company’s trademark Matrix bracing system. This comprises interlocking aluminium panels that reinforce the interior of the cabinet walls in every direction, with special attention paid to key stress points. This helps to reduce resonance and provide the most believable midrange soundstage.
These loudspeakers are fitted with Bowers & Wilkins’s proprietary Continuum midrange cone, complete with an all-aluminium turbine head that eliminates all unwanted resonance from the unit. This stiff and critically damped housing remains separate from the tweeter body and the bass enclosure, resulting in realistic sound reproduction.
The 801 D4 utilises Bowers & Wilkins’s unique biomimetic suspension system to significantly reduce colouration and unwanted air pressure, compared to the more common fabric spider approach. This revolutionary design enhances midrange performance and improves transparency, resulting in crystal-clear output every time.
The Bowers & Wilkins 801 D4 is available in a variety of finishes, so you should have no problem finding the right look to match your existing audio setup. These include:
